This was an image composition I created for a female R&B artist. It was used on a CD I designed and for other promotional material.
The real challenge here was taking a rather average digital camera shot and turning it into a beautiful image composition. This involved some very subtle skin retouching and extensive masking to get the hair cutout just right in Photoshop, along with some colour correction. I don’t use automated tools or plugins – this was all done with the built-in tools in Photoshop and various techniques to make it look natural.
This was then built into a Photoshop composition made up of personal photography (2 skies and various vegetation shots) and some vector artwork of butterflies I also built myself. The vector artwork was built into a high resolution Photoshop brush, that teamed up with my Wacom tablet produced a lovely randomness to the butterflies positions and size.
