Everlasting is a site where people can create a free ‘tribute creator’ account and create any number of free online tributes, where contributors may upload images and leave text contributions for those that have passed away.
Any logged in user may then may create a beautiful keepsake book. The site features a very advanced on-line book maker system that uses the content of the tribute to all anyone to design their own personal book.
I was tasked with designing and delivering the entire website system, which is based on a modified version of WordPress Mu. I worked very closely with the agencies in-house developer who built the book maker software in Flash, and succeeded in delivering a very advanced, robust platform that happily communicates with the book making software.
This is certainly amongst the largest scale projects I have been involved in – and one of the most rewarding from a delivery point of view, which culminated with me presenting at the press-launch in London with Gloria Hunniford. The site runs a suite of advanced plugins developed by myself, in-fact there are no other third-party plugins currently running on the site! The agency coders built a custom search function that I developed the spec for which facilitates an optimised search across the entire MU installation, but everything else was delivered by myself.
The site also uses some nice custom CMS controls for custom field entry – and the users also have some great front-end image manipulation like front-end uploading and admin (props to Westi).
