Just a quick post to remind you that WordCampUK is scheduled for the weekend of 17-18 July 2010. This will be the third year for the annual conference for WordPress publishers, designers and developers based in the United Kingdom (and of-course, any international visitors are more than welcome if they want to drop in!).
The venue this year is Manchester Metropolitan University Business School – who have offered substantial financial support to the event. There is some really interesting stuff going on behind the scenes this year, including the formulation of the official organisation and core organisational committee (of-which I’m part of), amongst other things.
I am also personally relaunching the WordCamp Awards (details in discussion), along with the usual support I offer WordCamp – namely the press pack and any other little bits and pieces of design work required! I also intend to present again at the conference and because I feel the conference has been lacking on design/template design I aim to cover this subject in one form or another in my presentation.
Make sure you get the date in your diaries – there will be reduced price early bird tickets available soon, along with some great sponsorship opportunities. So keep an eye on the official WordCampUK website, or get involved by joining the WordCampUK mailing list where a-lot of background stuff gets discussed!
If you are involved with WordPress at any level – be it developer, designer or even just a publisher, you really can’t afford to miss this conference! It’s a great chance to mingle with like-minded people and I have personally forged some great links with other developers and have got a-lot from this conference over the last couple of years – see you there!
OF COURSE I will be there 🙂
Good stuff Kim – see you there again fella (lets try and keep cups of water away from my MacBook Pro this year eh!!)
Fantastic! Glad you’ll be discussing more template design material. A bit further for me as I’m in Plymouth but still hoping to attend!
Going to be there. Have also signed up for WordCamp Ireland. One WordCamp and I’m hooked 🙂
As a WordPress dev from Manchester, I could hardly miss it, could I? Very much looking forward to it, it’ll be my first, of undoubtedly many.
Jason – yea, me and a friend (who have been to the last 2 WordCamps) were discussing that theme design has been missed out the last couple of years, so I think it’s the perfect time to present on this!
Andrew – I was thinking about going to Ireland, but sadly work has been stacking-up and I just can’t afford the weekend off sadly (yes, I’m pretty much booked out until then and beyond!)
Richard – if it’s your first time, don’t worry – we are a nice bunch of guys (and gals!). You are sure to get some useful WordPress info during the conference no matter what level of development you are at (be it top level plugin developer or just beginning). A nice easy journey for you being based in Manchester yourself – WordCampUK 2008 was based in Birmingham (my hometown) and it was great sleeping in my own bed (and saving a wedge on a naff hotel!)
See you all there – I know there’s quite a way to go but I’m getting really excited about this year already!!
Looking forward to WordCamp this year. Last year was my first WordCamp and I thoroughly enjoyed it, meeting new people and learning new things. I am sure this years event will be as good if not better.
See you there!
